The Month of November
Oh yes, the year is getting old.

Nov. 1: The Pumpkin Pie tradition celebrated its first anniversary, punctuated by... yes, a pumpkin pie (edible, this time), more experienced cooks + a new member (this year, we didn't open the pumpkin and say: hey! It's almost empty!), a lot of laughter (it happens when someone says "Menonita" and you hear "Marranita", as in "Una vez me confundieron con..."), and the Mexican version of the Hedwig video Wig in a Box (we all look good with an Afro. Should consider it as a retro-impossible fashion statement for my head).

An excellent beginning to a month that up to now has been marked by great stress, lots to do and less time to do it in. As you can see below, I'm scheduled to speak at the Coloquio de Semiología Musical on Nov. 17. You are all invited, of course. And don't miss the other lectures. Of course, it had to be that on the very same day I will also be taking the dreaded and dreadful GRE exam. I'm sure after that hectic day the weight will be somewhat lifted.

On another note, a door literally slammed in my face yesterday. There was blood and, given that I was already hurt, I was hoping for a black eye. No such luck. Only a little wound under my eyebrow. It's hardly even swollen anymore. I hope it wasn't an omen!
