Hello Again! (shaboom?)

No, dear Blog (and blog readers), I did not abandon you. And yes, dear all of the above, I did survive last week after a two-hour nap (not exactly a "power nap", but with the same effect) on Thursday. I even managed to revive enough to get into my favorite of holidays--you guessed it! I think I have already told you; I love getting dressed up in any way and form, and of course this is the best chance to really take advantage of that ANY in there. Even if this time I had to recycle the old-time, classic, best-ever home-made costume I have ever had. You see, the guys at the Embassy had never seen it. It is, of course, always overshadowed by my dear love's scarier costume, but I'm actually content in the background. And of course M. LeCanit's costume was impeccable, as always.

(I'll upload the photo tomorrow)

Here it is!

The best costume, according to us?

(same thing. This, guys, is called a teaser)

What about this week? (I know... this week-to-week living is reminiscent of nothing but a bureaucrat's lifestyle). This week, they gave us back the hour they had kidnapped. And even if it's cold, there is nothing like early morning sunshine (as opposed to dreary darkness) to start off your day.

Deader and deader!!

The beginning of this week found me a zombie, so sleepy that all I could think about was resting. It was not to be, of course, and even when I managed to go to bed early, I still woke up feeling like the living dead. So the walking corpse, dead tired, did everything like a ghost, going through the motions automatically. But Tuesday night was a nice surprise: perfectly suited to my mood, pan de muerto was waiting for me! I ate it with pleasure. It is my favorite seasonal food, and when I AM actually dead and anyone ever thinks of putting up an altar (this sounds quite presumptuous, sorry. It's the word "altar", I think), then there is no need for anything but flowers and bread. I'm not a big fan of fruit, don't like tequila at all, and salt... well what is the point of salt by itself?
Anyway, costume party time is almost here! I can't wait!

PS This was also posted by my zombie alter ego.

Puss-in-Boots

It's amazing how the right pair of shoes can change your perspective. Today is the end of my third week of work. I'm finally getting used to it, enough so that I don't even have to post about it (almost). This morning, like always, I didn't want to get up. But when I put on the pair of boots that I bought this Monday, everything changed. I feel like dancing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The boots are not red but their effect is the same. I'm gonna have to control myself today, or else I will be dancing off into the woods, forgetting everything else.
I think I like how I can sometimes forget all serious intellectuality and be quite frivolous.
And speaking of dancing, tonight the ballet awaits! I hope our seats are not too crappy.

Less is more! (?)

Since I started working (which, by the way, is turning out to be fun), I have been doing both less and more. So here is the all-time (well, actually, 2-week) champion list of the less and the more:

Less
Reading- I have only been able to manage one chapter a day! That is not acceptable.
Dancing- I've gone down from 5 to 3 (possibly 4 in the future) days a week
Reading- This time I mean your blogs. I've been falling behind!!! I'll catch up soon, sorry...
Family- Of course I barely see them, and only at night, when everyone is talking on the phone nonstop.
BOYFRIEND- Much, much less, and for a shorter time. This needs to be fixed somehow.
Junk food- At least I don't eat that kind of stuff at work! :)
Jeans & sneakers- And how I miss them.
Sleep- Actually, it's the same amount but I feel I need more.

More
Hours in the car- It "only" takes me 1-1.5 hrs to get here in the mornings. Afternoons are better but it's still a long time in the car.
Music- Since I usually listen to music (and even sing) in the car.
Water- It's here, it's cold, it actually amuses me to drink it.
Work- Of course, though less translating.
Money- That goes without saying.

All I can say at this point is that it's at least interesting. We'll see what this all turns into.

And now for a commercial: for those of you who have time on your hands and want to get involved in a good cause, consider this for Oct. 15. It is not competitive and you don't even have to run. We also need volunteers.
